This week, I ended up in a rabbit hole on Reddit (as one does) and saw someone say:

"I can ask it (ChatGPT) as many questions as I want without feeling stupid or like I'm bothering someone.”

aka "I ask ChatGPT all the dumb questions I'm too embarrassed to ask real people."

And that hit.

I think that's the actual productivity unlock of AI. Not the speed. Not the automation. But the fact that you can practice in private.

This Harvard study found that AI doesn't just act like a tool. It acts like a teammate. When 776 P&G professionals worked with AI, individuals with AI performed just as well as two-person teams without it. The AI basically replaced the collaborative benefits you usually only get from teamwork.

But here's the kicker, it also made expertise boundaries disappear. Marketers thought like product folks. Product people proposed creative campaigns. AI turned specialists into generalists overnight.

That Reddit comment suddenly makes perfect sense. When you're not worried about looking stupid in front of your "AI teammate," you explore ideas outside your lane. You practice being curious instead of just being right.

This matters. Because ChatGPT is quietly becoming the new search engine.
