If you want to see under the hood and shape what’s next for the 100 school, this is your stop.

šŸ‘€ First some context…

It’s Max here šŸ‘‹. If you didn’t know, I run šŸ’Æ School. Growing up my tech skills were pretty bad. That’s until I started asking the ā€œdumbā€ questions I was always too scared to ask - and ever since, I’ve been turning the answers into free challenges for anyone to learn tech skills (in less scary, more fun ways). Hence #100daysofnocode & #100daysofai.

I’m also a solo-founder. And get told a lotā€¦ā€Max! You should get some extra help calling the shotsā€.

That’s where you come in.

We started as a Twitter hashtag. No curriculum, team or mission. Just me in lockdown trying to learn a new skill. Community was the only thing that kept me going. And I want to continue building this thing with you, the community - because without it, well…it wouldn’t be a thing; only an idea.

That’s why I’m going to use this little corner of the digest to share lessons and updates/questions with you every week. Like a board meeting but way more casual šŸ˜…. Thankyou šŸ™

We hit 11k students for 100DaysOfAI 🄳

A year ago today I was on a park bench listening to this MFM episode all about AI. The penny dropped. I realised 1. that I needed to learn AI skills 2. I needed to help more people learn these skills.

Inspiration is a magical thing, a productivity multiplier, a motivator. But it won’t wait for you. Inspiration is a now thing. If it grabs you, grab it right back and put it to work. - David Hansson

And that’s what I did. I literally sprinted home. And shipped the first version of 100DaysOfAI the next day. This was it. Just a Notion template and a landing page to collect emails.

Now, if you’re reading this, there’s a high chance you’re starting #100DaysOfAI tommorrow. With 11K+ folks around the world!! Crazy. Goodluck 😊

šŸ“• LESSON

Be intentional about where you place your marketing bets

I tried to launch #100daysofnocode 2.0 twice last week on Product Hunt. Twice got rejected (see why here). It was a good reminder to reflect on this question: do I own, rent or borrow the line(s) of communication I have with my intended audience?

This question comes from the ORB framework and it’s a great way to assess how your marketing efforts are spread. And where your dependencies may be. Thankfully our scheduled Product Hunt launch was intended as a ā€œlast hurrahā€ for our marketing campaign. But had it been THE marketing campaign, our student acquisition efforts would of been in trouble. Hence why reflecting on your spread is important, otherwise you may not be able to get your ā€œthingā€ in front of people that need it most!

Your weekly advent calendar šŸŽ

Every week we share a little mystery opportunity that we think you’ll like - it can be everything from a tool discount, merch drop, event, freelance gig, new project or challenge we’re launching - we try to keep you on your toes. A weekly advent calendar but just not in December. Drum roll please šŸ„ā€¦.
